Our doctrine, the Apostle’s Creed, is purposely short, purposely simple, and purposely central to the Christian faith. It has been a regular part of Christian worship since the earliest days of the church, with some manuscripts dating back to the late first century! Earliest references to the use of creedal language in worship are found in many of the New Testament epistles. The word “catholic” (small ‘C’) can be confusing to some. It does not refer to the Catholic (big ‘C’) religion but rather simply means “unified”. The Creed affirms our Christo-centric, Trinitarian theology.

We believe in One God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
He ascended into heaven,
He is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and He will come to judge the living and the dead,
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.
